Ισχυρή σεισμική δόνηση μεγέθους 7,3 βαθμών σημειώθηκε σήμερα στα ανοικτά των ακτών της Αλάσκας, σύμφωνα με το αμερικανικό ινστιτούτο γεωλογικών μελετών (USGS)
Το επίκεντρο εντοπίζεται 87 χιλιόμετρα νότια του Σαντ Πόιντ και το εστιακό βάθος υπολογίζεται σε 20 χιλιόμετρα.
Λόγω του μεγέθους του σεισμού, εκδόθηκε προειδοποίηση για ενδεχόμενο τσουνάμι.
